Headphones That Adapt To Your Hearing Exceed Kickstarter Expectations
The way a person hears, just like the way a person looks, is entirely unique to each individual.
Australian company Nura has turned to Kickstarter to fund the development of an innovative new type of headphone that is able to adapt to a person's unique way of hearing. On May 15th the project was posted on Kickstarter and in just 14 hours reached its goal of 100,000 dollars.
The project now has nearly 7,000 backers and over 1.5 million dollars in funding which, with three days to go, makes the Nura headphones Australia's highest funded Kickstarter project.
When a person first puts on the headphones they hear a series of sounds which will cause the inner-ear to send sound waves back to be received and analyzed by the headphones and this creates an optimized sound profile each person. This process takes around 30 seconds and is remembered by the device so that they can be used immediately after the first calibration.
The headphones' intriguing design features both in-ear and over-ear components. The in-ear bud is responsible for the high and low frequencies while the over-ear takes care of the bass without muddling the sound. This design helps to create the optimal personalized sound as well as assisting in noise isolation.
