Today is a special occasion for Macho Zapp: we are one year old!
This year has seen Macho Zapp bring something new to the internet: in-depth investigations into music presented in striking ways. We have told the story of the exceptional Shure M44-7 needle whose design has been unchanged for 50 years; we took a microscope to the world of turntablism in 'Scratch Obsession' (we were especially proud of this one), C.A.R. showed us how an album is put together, from conception to realisation; and in 'Deep Overwater' Mr Bass UK Chris May generously allowed us access to his inner sanctum where he makes custom basses for the biggest names in music.
And most recently 'Brisbane Noise' submerged us in the punk spirit of the city's alternative scene against the tragic backdrop of the loss of a genius so young.
In all honesty we never anticipated such emotive stories, with themes like depression, isolation, freedom of expression, commitment, and experimentation. It shows that music does not exist in a vacuum, behind every record there are devoted people, prepared to sacrifice everything for the act of creation.
Over the course of the year we were flattered to receive some lovely feedback from the music industry in the form of Shure, Serato, Ransom Note, DJ Yoda, No Treble magazine, and others and we hope to earn more in the next year.
We just wanted to say a big thanks to all our followers: every view and 'like' is genuinely appreciated; and to everyone who has contributed their time and skills: Shure, DJ Woody, Jon Furst, Video Ink, David Taylor, C.A.R., Overwater Basses, Matt Kennedy, Joshua Watson, and many more.
In the meantime, watch this space - there is much more to come from Macho Zapp as we seek to evolve in new ways.
